Our Journey

Founded in 2022 in Maryland and run by Shawn Wierzbowski and Cristito Climacosa Jr., MLS Global emerged in response to the critical shortage of medical laboratory scientists in the United States. During this challenging time, hospitals faced constant pressure due to a diminishing supply of qualified professionals and reliance on costly short-term staffing solutions.

What sets us apart is our deep personal connection to the journey of international medical professionals. Our company is 50% Filipino American-owned, and our co-founder, Cristito B. Climacosa Jr., personally navigated the immigration process two decades ago. This firsthand experience gives us unique insight into the perspectives of our candidates, enabling us to craft and execute international recruitment strategies that are both compassionate and effective.

Cristito's Story

“A JOURNEY ALWAYS STARTS WITH A SINGLE STEP AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU’LL BE AT YOUR DESTINATION ”

It was the summer of 2006 when I first set foot in the USA. I was excited to start a new chapter of my career in the most sought after country in the world as a bench Medical Technologist. I remembered applying for a job online around Christmas time of the prior year without expecting that I’ll be able to relocate the next year. Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC gave me that life changing opportunity I needed. The laboratory department had several vacancies that they cannot fill due to the scheduled hours or lack of qualified candidates.

They sponsored my working visa until I was able to leave my beloved country, the Philippines. Moving from another country needs a lot of courage, emotional maturity, financial resources and resiliency. I can still vividly remember walking in the snow going to work, adjusting to the language, blending into the environment and socializing with the diversity of people in my workplace. It was not easy but definitely worth it. In the middle of every difficulty lies an opportunity. I was able to help my family financially and grow my career professionally with the right mentorship and support. As a testament of the kind of work ethics I showed, I was able to refer and recruit 6 of my colleagues from the Philippines to work in the Laboratory!

That was 16 years ago. I am now a naturalized American citizen and serves as an Administrative Director of Operations for the Laboratory Services in one of the nationally recognized medical centers in the greater Washington/Baltimore area. Currently, the USA is experiencing a considerable shortage of allied health professionals that includes Clinical Laboratory Scientist aka Medical Technologist. As an administrator, I felt the need of expanding how we source our talents. One of the most difficult challenges is to find qualified candidates that can be trained and retained.

I believe the Philippines has one of the largest pools of well trained and educated CLS that can be deployed to the US in order to ease the worsening manpower shortage. Our company is dedicated to help employers outsource the best talents and retain them in order not to disrupt clinical/laboratory operations and patient care. For the candidates, we will help you settle in the US, adjust to your living and working environment, provide the emotional support through previous experiences and most especially to have a family away from home.

It can be a very complicated process from start to finish but we have the mission of making it easy to our clients. The time and expenses spent on this project will definitely outweigh the advantages it will provide to your organization.
